All Linux distros can write to the Hard Disk. NTFS/ FAT suroppt may or may not be included by default.I think you tried to write to your windows partition without NTFS/FAT suroppt?Ubuntu, Mint, SUSE all major distros can read and write to windows partition by default.I used to own one.
